Overview

CHICHA San Chen in Rowland Heights stands as a refined destination for bubble tea enthusiasts craving authentic Taiwanese flavors with a contemporary twist. Nestled at 18912A Gale Avenue, this location blends tradition and innovation through a curated selection of high-grade teas, meticulously paired with fresh fruit infusions and artisanal toppings.

The brand excels in its signature tea blends, prominently featuring award-winning iTi teas such as High Mountain Pouchong, Osmanthus Oolong, and Jasmine Green Tea. These premium leaves create a complex yet approachable base, skillfully married with vibrant elements like passion fruit, mango, and fresh lemon juice. For example, the High Mountain Pouchong combined with passion fruit balances a rich milky aroma with bright acidity, delivering a refreshing yet comforting sip. Similarly, Osmanthus Oolong paired with lemon juice offers a clean, floral brightness that’s both lively and soothing.

Beyond the carefully crafted drinks, this location offers a welcoming space for both casual visitors and tea connoisseurs. The interior, while cozy, provides seating options that enable you to linger and savor your beverage—a rare feature in many bubble tea shops known for their quick turnover. The staff’s attentiveness stands out; they take thoughtful care in explaining drink options and ensuring an accurate order, enhancing the overall experience.

The atmosphere and service align well with a diverse target audience ranging from tea aficionados seeking nuanced flavors to newcomers eager to explore unique bubble tea combinations. Though the menu’s strict approach to customization means you must trust the expert-curated flavor profiles, this method ensures consistent quality and balance in every cup.

Customer feedback frequently highlights the impeccable quality of the tapioca pearls—soft, chewy, and fresh—as well as the authentic taste of the tea itself. The commitment to fresh preparation is undeniable, with each drink made to order, which can sometimes translate into longer wait times during peak hours. However, for many patrons, the trade-off is worthwhile given the depth of flavor and freshness.

Parking can be a challenge due to the plaza's busyness, and the store size leads to occasional congestion, but the spaciousness here compared to other franchise locations is appreciated. Fans often praise this branch for maintaining consistent quality across all drinks and toppings while offering a comfortable environment to enjoy them.

Overall, CHICHA San Chen - Rowland Heights represents a thoughtful evolution of bubble tea. Its focus on premium tea leaves, balanced fruit infusions, and quality toppings invites you to experience Taiwanese tea culture in a lively yet refined setting. Whether you’re a longtime bubble tea lover or exploring these vibrant flavors for the first time, this outlet makes a compelling case to return again and again.

In love with this location! For some reason, this place isn’t as popular nor crowded as their other location even though it’s only a couple more miles away. The menu is the same across all their stores and they’re very consistent with the flavors. All of their drinks are super tasty so you can order literally anything and can guarantee that you’ll like it. The workers are very nice and accommodating. They always take their time explaining the drinks and make sure that your order is correct before placing it. * Green Tea with Honey: 10/10 - subtle and sweet flavor * Osmanthus Oolong Tea with Honey: 10/10 - very light and refreshing * Green Tea with Mango: 10/10 - nice mango flavor * Creamy Mango Tart: 9/10 - literally tastes like mango cake from the Asian bakeries * Peach Green Tea with Mousse: 9/10 - mousse is a nice touch * Bubbles (Topping): 10/10 - perfectly cooked, soft and chewy The only downside about the franchise is that they don’t allow any type of adjustments. You can’t remove anything or substitute any of the toppings which is annoying, but they clearly know what they’re talking about. It’s located in a pretty crowded plaza, but there’s always people going in and out so it should be fairly easy to find a spot. This location is probably the most spacious so you don’t have to wait outside and there are a couple of tables as well. So good!

The Chinese tea here is absolutely delicious and authentic. However, I noticed the prices are about $1–$2 higher than other places. While the quality is high enough that I’d love to bring my family here next time, the premium price makes it hard to justify becoming a regular. I’ll definitely visit again, but probably not more than three or four times

The drinks here are absolutely amazing! Each sip is bursting with rich, flavorful tea aroma, and the boba is just perfect—definitely a 10 out of 10. However, waiting 50 minutes for just three drinks is quite a stretch. The taste is fantastic, but the long wait time might make me think twice about coming back. ⏳

I came here with my cousins through recommendation and I honestly really liked it. The drinks were flavorful and had a strong tea taste to it. Each was very unique, many of the options being ones that I had never seen before. I tried something new and it was pretty good. It tasted different from any other boba I’ve had and I’d love to go again and try something else. One thing to note is the long wait times for ordering and receiving drinks, as well as the congestion when it gets busy because this place is pretty small. They do have some seating inside though. The inside is relatively clean and it’s nice to see the workers actively making the drinks.

Easily one of my favorite places for good quality tea and milk teas. Been coming since they opened in Rowland after going for years to their San Gabriel location Parking can be difficult in the plaza, and it can be very busy depending on when you come. Just a heads up, expect to wait a bit for your drink as they make everything to order. Everything is fresh, high quality teas, and it smells great even while you’re waiting in the store. Personal favorite is the dong ding tea and dong ding tea with fresh milk. I like the perfect amount of sweetness and light ice and just as it sounds, it’s perfect. Not too sweet, and just the right amount to get the tea flavor and not sugary or watered down. Even the “latte”, it’s not overly milky and tea comes through. Their rotating series are usually pretty good as well. We like the peach series I do miss the taro series though, hoping it comes back soon as it’s usually one of my favorites For toppings, their boba is good, right amount of chewiness, but only get it if you plan to drink right away. I also like their konjac, I miss their unique sakura konjac. This is our go to location when we want quality tea and we’ll keep coming back! Oh and they just started a rewards program so we’ll be taking advantage of that

Chicha San Chen has always been one the popular boba place originated from Taiwan a few years ago and the trend / brand was brought to the States. They are known for their high quality tea. When it first opened in San Gabriel, I was so happy because 626 finally has a known, high quality tea brand that open here. There are many boba shops in the 626 but their drink is just average. If you have been to Asian, especially Taiwan or hong kong, their milk teas/tea depending on the style you like amazes you. The taste and quality of those boba shops can’t compare. Are they bad though? No of course not but you always want crave for the best one right? This place is one of the best ones. Good tea quality, hot and perfect sweetness boba and other drink refreshers. There are always super long lines regardless of which store it is. Not going to be a big difference here with the wait as you can expect is 9/10 times when you come. Thats the only negative comment I would say about this place and other store locations. This particular location is small and long lines are expected. Drinks are great just like other stores. I’m happy that the quality of their drinks didn’t just dip after opening a few locations in US. The reason is usually when a popular brand is brought from other countries and after opening different locations, they tend to drop ( service, quality and taste ), not with them though! They stay consistent! Keep it up CHICHA San Chen!!
